So my new years resolution was to try to find every species of herptofauna in the state… I am trying to find 153 species. 43 snakes, 37 lizards, 7 turtles, 21 frogs & toads, 45 salamanders. (read more for the species list with links to info about each species)
FOUND SPECIES: 6 spp, 3 vouchered
* these snakes are from small isolated localities (or the ocean), and while I’ll try my best to find them I’m not counting them for this quest.
The following lizards are excluded from my list, either their endangered or found in such a limited range that the odds of me finding them is near zero, though… I’ll still try to find them!
Following are excluded due to reason listed:
Slender Salamanders (using “species groups” as many are only distinguishable through genetic analysis):
Following are excluded:
Channel Islands Slender Salamander * (unable to access channel islands)*- Batrachoseps pacificus
